Nothing really fits, and well, you know, everything does, depending on how you look at it. This is how that compilation worked. Kind of throwing in different kind of shoes: sneakers, boots, high-heels (lots of those in there actually, mean to wear but kind of awesome to look at, you‘ll see. Listen. Where was I?) but in the end they are all shoes, right? Even with matching colors. Drone, breakcore, beats, melodies, we offer the whole menu in one go and you just need to (wo)man up to stomach that. But WaW turned 30 with that one, so we are grown-ups now, and you are too, are you not? Just kidding. Trying to think of a childish joke now, but nothing comes to mind. Too sad. No. Wait. Legends of the future. Shift and drift. There you go, stupid word-play. We promise, what we hold.

Empty your brain before listening. Because Joris J will fill it to the brim anyway, engaging storyteller and teacher, that he is. Though not of the warm, fuzzy kind with silly hats and beards. This sound is all about precision. Listening to this equals maybe watching a construction-site in the future, each abstract sound growing like bacteria-cultures in a petri-dish under the miscroscope into a new „whole“. There is something going on. You need to listen carefully, to know, what.

Like a ride on a little panorama-train around a small lake in the middle of the montains. The melancholic conductor takes out his little organ, and it’s reverbed sounds float out over the lake, being thrown back by the rockywalls, and on goes the short, bumpy journey, cushioned by soft distortion, until you get off board. Then you will stand in the surreal remainders of the echoing sounds, watching the conductor going around the lake forever and ever. Or maybe closing-time.

Been hibernating like an exhausted caterpillar, now we’re back, the giddy butterfly has spruced up it’s wings. Looks good, right? And sounds even better, two new releases, one by a face well-known (at least the sound of that face is) and one new…. Never worry. We are with you. Always. big promise from little weirdos.

Special Agent Helico Bacter has done it yet again. In making an encaptureing, enraptureing, seriously-in-awe-putting
masterpiece of a fully rounded break-beat-beauty. First he’ll wrap you in gently swinging beats, just to open a trap-door,
which leads to exciting, nervous tension. Tip-toeing then with incessant speed over the remainders of 100 Million sound-bits tangled into one. You should try to carress with your imaginative fingertips the distinctive veil the piano strings around those sounds. Those would be exuberant, if they weren’t constructed with almost pure perfection, timing and – yes – care. And it’s this, that makes music truly sexy and a great thing to have around. You might want to put your arm around it’s waist, your head on it’s shoulder and wander the nightly streets of your hometown with this album. No gloves needed.

Some war-robots with dying batteries are stomping beats through terrifying landscapes of giant mountains topped with scrap-metal. A long journey into noisy battles of grinding and shuffling beat-up beats and noises, surrounding the enemy, enclosing a space of excited, fervid sounds, crawling like a colony of army-ants with antennas right towards you. Prepare! → get your rusty laser-sword out and march along.

It’s like a retro-futuristic SciFi-Movie with a Protagonist, who plays in a Jazz-Band in his free time (=when he’s not on a mission in outer space). So it basically sounds like a nervous man travelling through space and time. He doesn’t show it, let alone tell it, but oh, boy, underlying tension is the theme. The general alert is up, and yours will be too. You may accompany this guy on his journies through deserts, oriental places, his encounter in the white room, where he meets the crazy guy in a powdered wig playing the spinet and many more….leaving you with this feeling not unlike, when you come out of a cinemaand it’s still bright outside and reality looks utterly surreal..time to lower the general alert…

NEUS goes big: huge sounds, grand gestures (though the gestures are never bigger than the skills, which deny his tender age on the one hand; on the other feeds this volume of the boldness of youth). It’s a fully rounded, souvereign album, no messing around, no ‘testing the waters’, no insecurities to be heard. It is very a balanced, self-centered piece of music, revolving in it’s own space, big beats, kind-of-melodies, clear sound. NEUS leads the weirdos with a firm hand to the dance-floor, then to the backyard (to do god-knows-what there), to the Bar and back to the floor. Universal Middle
(the name speaks for itself, to stress my first point) is full-body-music. Flesh, that turned into sound, or sound that will turn into flesh. Probably both. An organic, many-legged and -armed creature evolving and growing from Moment 1. Let there be NEUS.

A giant factory, a church of industry, if you like. The old-fashioned kind, brickwalls rise into eternal darkness. Filled with beautiful machines, huge, long iron necks cutting through dusky light, building things during the day. They sleep at night, resting their metal-limbs in absolute stillness, that’s what everyone believes….. But if you stand very still and peek through the hole, the missing brick has left, you see them rise….very…veeeeery…slowly…rising their heads… stretching…dancing…waltzing in slow-motion the secret-machine-dance, their rusty voices form an eerie choire….You will be tempted to join them… And next time, you pass a crane, you’ll give it a gentle nudge with your nose….
