Time to set the mind afloat…to go on an airy trip through gloomy sugar-hills. Coup D’État may make some hairs stand on end (in the good way, you know what I mean, right?) but Penniless and wandering strokes them flat in the softest, warmest fashion imaginable…. rising up and higher in big and bigger circles towards a powder-blue sky… I’ll stop before I’m embarrassing myself here. Industrial goes romantic. The Cuddle-Soundtrack for evil robots with glinting slits for eyes. Not so much brooding, more like hovering in dark spaces, occupied by animals with sleek fur and long swishy tails, which slowly move the sticky air from left to right. Don’t embrace the darkness: be part of it. And while we’re at it: get a snake as a pet, which could move approriately to these sounds, which will softly scrape away your resistance against anything which is not in the major key.

Is it Noise Concréte? Is it avant-garde? No, it’s the sound of the world according to Joris J.. It’s the ICU of sonic impulses, and in all it’s intenseness, deepness, intricacy, the man in the white coat playing the organ (which does not sound out of place in this swamp of soft distortion) still smiles at you. Because there is always joy in making experiences as listening to music like this. It drills a hole in your skull, and you will shave your head afterwards to show it proudly to the world. Speaking of which: drills never sounded sexier as on this EP. Word.

It’s stirred, not shaken. A roughly cut piece of music, that leaves a lot to your imagination. Strong beats, bits of guitar and voice tumble out of a bar, arm in arm, roaming the streets like newborn kittens with teeth, exploring everything around them.
Or – just so to use another well (if not over-) used metaphor: it’s a salad bowl, not a melting pot. And you can’t deny that a good salad is no tone of the greatest things in the world.

When speed meets incredible skills, it turns out like this. If you are of the slow kind, you could be annoyed by your inabilty to follow this mad mixture of classical tunes and sheer crazily briliant breakbeats at an appropriate speed. Your eyes may rotate in their sockets, your neck may become stiff of astonished shaking of the head, but we promise you one thing: your grin will stay put firmly in place. The only drug you might be tempted to take while listening to this, is Ritalin. The sounds run through ones brain like breathless, pumped-up mice, ready to knibble their way out in top-speed. But what they leave behind, is an experience worth having. Take a deep breath now, it will take some time, until you take the next one. Here we go…

This is so light, it will make you fly, and yet still so „earthy“ that the feeling remains, it’s real. It’s a constant melancholic
smile from a person you have known all your life without realizing it. It’s easy listening for the heavy-hearted, which is not to say, that it’s in any way shallow, but over and over (and over and over and over and over…) a joy to listen to.
Like walking through a busy small town, watching people doing whatever they do. Do you know those moments, when everything and everyone suddenly looks meaningful and interesting? In this case, this moment lasts 34 minutes, with lots of piano-sound, complex beats, modestly shining melodies and samples which fit in so perfectly like the distinguished gentleman with the calm voice, asking you for the way, when you have the time and knowledge to answer that question. There is a specific peak at „The Ever-Green-T-Shirt“. The perfect tune to skip and jump with your favouite person
(ideal case: your alter ego) on a sunday afternoon on your bed. Or a dewy lawn, or a dirty clubfloor….Whatever! Do not download it and the thought that you’ve missed out something great will haunt you for the rest of your life! Seriously. Erm, well, so, yeah: we do highly recommend this. Like: seriously! Also recommended: to put „held“ on a tape.
Success guaranteed, whatever the occasion for the tape was. The man behind this really good record (actually, that would be a sufficient description, everything else is just inappropriate, but fun. But most inappropriate things are fun, right?) even offers a beautiful and sad video for „Held“ which you can watch here. What’s up with the tiger in the end? Any ideas?

Acid in your house!
Our beloved chicken is back on WaW and brews a toxic acid-medicine against the omnipresent pre-yuletide love-ballad-bombing. Pure Playground Acid marries 303-bubbles off to 8-bit melodies and chicken stlye Beat-programming. That’s a ménage à trois par excellence, superb! This year you don’t need to buy your presents in crowded malls, just print out the cover-art, burn the MP3-files on a CD, wrap it up in green paper with yellow smilies on it and give it to the ones you love.

We have to announce with a great bit of heartache, that this will be the last release of Mithra on WeirdAndWired…
Mithra doesn’t exist anymore (the whys and hows can be read on his MySpace-Page). But we are proud to say, that his last breath goes partly out through our door…And do not worry, he must have eaten something delicious before he took his last breath…It’s Mithra in all his tight fluffy- and loveliness with an edge… „Et si…“ feels like the moment, when you withdraw the curtains in the morning (or noon, if you are a student/artist or pretend to be one) very carefully, and not hungover-plagued, Jack’s death hits everyone, who has ever lost a cat and Tu es le Bateau et Je Suis la Rame maybe as close to breakcore as Mithra ever could come.
So this a a short goodbye of Mithra in (probably not) all his shades to mess with your head for 12 minutes and releases you with a smily sigh. Thank you for your work!!!!!!
